Activities

Methodological support: AFO

Researcher from ICC are involved in the qualitative and quantitative syntesis of the evidence in oncologic field, using GRADE methodology. Since 2005 the Emilia Romagna Health Care Agency produced a set of evidence-based (EBM) recommendations on anticancer drugs with a still uncertain benefit-risk profile. specific clinical questions for the treatment of breast, colorectal, lung and renal cancer were developed. The initiative  was well accepted and now has reached a national perspective, including panels from different regions of Italy. The GRADE System allows users to develop structured Tables of Evidence where every outcome is quantitatively and qualitatively synthesized in a standardized way. This project give us the opportunity to bridging the gap between researchers, clinicians, policy makers and consumer in the production of EBM recommendation using GRADE methodology.

POINT-OF-CARE

The aim of this program is describe online point-of-care summaries and evaluate their breadth, content development, and editorial policy against their claims of being "evidence-based"

A users' guide on discordant systematic review

The fast growing volume of scientific information, the wide scatter of articles and reports in scientific jopurnal, professional meeting, have all been contributing factors to the popularity of systematic reviews as valid tools for the synthesis and interpretation of scientific information.

the aim of this research program is to assess the scientific validity and reproducibility of results of systematic review.

the main objective of this program is to build a tool for the critical appraisal of determinants of disafreements among different systematic review on the same topic and for how to decide which systematic review deserves more credit in assuming clinical and/or policy decision.

PartecipaSalute

In 2009 the ICC continued its collaboration with the PartecipaSalute ("Participate in Health Care") project  to foster a strategic alliance between patients’ groups and professional societies with the common goal of promoting better health and shared decision-making.

The project’s main aims are:

-   to increase patients’ associations’ involvement in healthcare assistance and in decision making processes;

-   to promote a partnership between patients’ associations and medical societies soliciting medical societies’ attention to patients’ need and perspectives

-   to develop a partnership between citizens, patients and healthcare system.
